Mark Bowie, ANEC will be holding a post-processing demo on Night Images on Sunday.

This presentation, targeted to intermediate to advanced shooters, features live demonstrations of the latest techniques for processing night images in Lightroom and Photoshop CC, Starry Landscape Stacker (Mac, Sequator for PC is similar), and StarStax (Mac & PC). Learn to capture the mystery and wonder of the celestial heavens, and through processing, best present extraordinary night imagery. I’ll discuss the field techniques required to generate the images, then in post-production, demonstrate how to:

  • Optimize Milky Way images for great color and details
  • Process images for dark, starry skies
  • Reduce the number of stars to showcase other celestial elements
  • Blend separate exposures for detail in both the night sky and the landscape, using layer masking, and by creating HDR’s
  • Reduce noise by blending multiple exposures
  • Expand depth of field through focus stacking
  • Merge multiple exposures to create star trails and circles, and panoramas of the star-filled heavens and the Milky Way
  • Merge separate images of lighthouse beams to create one with beams radiating out in different direction
  • Reveal colorful nebulae and galaxies
