About Tom Cuchara

Tom Cuchara, MNEC (CT)

My photography gives me a way to connect with the world and many doors were opened due to my camera. Photography today continues to allow me the opportunity to visit a variety of places and meet interesting many people. It has paved the way for me to see the world in a way that I never could have imagined.

I am very involved in the photographic community and believe that my talents should also give back. I regularly volunteer for events like Help Portrait, DCF Teen Night Out, Flavors for the American Liver Foundation, etc. I have been president of the New Haven Camera Club and of the Connecticut Association of Photographers. Currently, I am a Vice President of the New England Camera Club Council (NECCC) as well as Lisa and I are co-chairs of the 2018, 2019 and 2020 NECCC Photography Conference. Lisa and I met at the New Haven Camera Club. Ever since we have we teamed up we have been photographing people professionally — weddings and portraits.  We have our own Photography Studio in Hamden CT and very much enjoy taking photographs of families, individual headshots, etc.

Lisa and I have co-authored two books with Amherst Media: “Create Fine Art Photographs from Historic Places and Rusty Things” about HDR and light painted images; and “The Frog Whisperer”. Lisa and I love to teach both photography and post-processing and we have presented at many photography organizations and conferences. We make a great team! While she often takes the lead at the podium, I take the lead in the field. Hands-on workshops are my favorite part of the teaching we do. We enjoy teaching and inspiring photographers of all skill levels.
