Joey Terrill began his career as a photographer for the Los Angeles Times before moving on to magazine and advertising photography for clients that include American Express, Coca-Cola, Disney, Golf Digest, Major League Baseball, Red Bull and Sports Illustrated. His career has spanned many specialties, including architecture and interior design, corporate photography and annual reports, editorial and corporate portraiture, golf course landscapes, large and small products, and aerial photography from helicopter platforms.
On his learning website, Photography One on One, Joey writes about photography, the use of light, and his experiences behind the camera. “I value the experiences photography can produce and Photography One on One is about sharing those experiences. Whether it’s film or digital, strobes or Speedlights, helicopters, rental studios, celebrities, athletes, executives, or image-processing, it’s fun to share what goes on behind the scenes.” Photography One on One grew out of Joey’s love for teaching and sharing about photography. Accompanying the features are example images, lighting diagrams, and behind-the-scenes videos, still pictures as well as sections on camera and lighting gear, computers and software, and other valuable photography resources.
Joey teaches workshops and speaks at seminars, including the Summit Series Workshops, Popular Photography Mentor Series, PhotoPlus Expo, WPPI, Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar, UPAA Symposium, Consumer Electronics Show, World in Focus, and Nikon School.
A very proud Nikon Ambassador, Joey genuinely enjoys sharing about a camera company that has done so much for so many. “My relationship with Nikon is long-standing and goes back to my first days as a photographer. Being a Nikon Ambassador has brought Joey closer to the company, involved him in the marketing of its products, and formalizes a relationship that has existed since his first days as a photographer.
