Fully Paid Residence Hall Guests
Guests staying in the residence halls that have fully paid all conference fees should report directly to their assigned building to check-in and obtain all conference materials. Check-in will begin on Thursday at noon, Friday at 11:00 a.m. and Saturday at noon. Those who select the early-arrival night of Thursday are typically able to check-in late afternoon/early evening on Thursday. Additional housing arrival information will be sent to all registered guests as the conference approaches.
Commuters + Residence Hall Guests with an Outstanding Balance
Commuters and Residence Hall guests with an outstanding balance should come to the on-site registration desk located on the 2nd floor concourse of the UMass Campus Center to pick up all conference materials, including a discounted parking pass for purchase to the Campus Center Parking Garage if needed (see below). The on-site registration desk will be open on Friday, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon.
Pre-Conference Workshop Attendees
Pre-conference workshop attendees who are staying in the Residence Halls on the early arrival night of Thursday will find their conference materials in their assigned building at check-in on Thursday. Pre-conference workshop attendees who are not arriving until Friday, including those staying in the Residence Halls starting Friday evening as well as commuters, can pick-up their conference materials beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Friday at the conference registration desk on the 2nd floor concourse of the Campus Center. Please allow yourself extra time to arrive, park, stop at the registration desk, and get settled prior to the start of your pre-conference workshop.
$66.95 per person, per night
Located on campus within a 10-minute walk of conference activities and multiple dining options, the air-conditioned North Residence Halls are a very popular and convenient housing option. Each suite consists of four single occupancy bedrooms, two bathrooms, a common area and a kitchen, accommodating at max. 4 guests. Each lockable bedroom is furnished with a twin bed, desk, chair, and bureau, and each guest will be provided with a linen pack consisting of two flat sheets, a pillow with case, two towels and a thin blanket. The kitchen has a full-sized refrigerator, microwave, and stove-top oven. If you are interested in preparing some of your meals in the suite, you should bring supplies and equipment or purchase some upon arrival: silverware, cookware and plates are not provided. Toiletries are not included.
Rooms are available in North for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Guests who reserve a room for Thursday night must also reserve a room for Friday and Saturday nights. All fully paid guests should report directly to their assigned building to pick up their conference materials. Housing assignments will be sent in early July to all fully paid guests. For those arriving on Thursday, check-in will begin late afternoon/early evening (an email will be sent once this information has been determined). For those arriving on Friday & Saturday, check-in will begin at 11:00 a.m. each day. Check-out for all guests is by 2:00 p.m. on your day of departure: all apartments must be fully vacated by 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, without exception. Early check-in and late check-out are not available.
Guests can enter suitemate requests and any additional housing needs during the registration process (including accessibility needs, requests to be near another suite/party). All attempts will be made to house you with your requested suitemates, but because guests may enter different suitemate requests, have unique housing needs and/or have different dates of stay, suitemate requests cannot be guaranteed. If no suitemate request(s) are received, guests will be assigned to a single-gender suite with other conference attendees. To assist with housing assignments in the event of no suitemate requests or less than 3 suitemate requests, all guests will provide their gender during registration.
$43.26 per person, per night
Attendees can select to stay in a non-air-conditioned traditional residence hall on Friday and Saturday nights. Each guest will have a twin bed, dresser, desk and chair in their room. Shared single-gender bathrooms are located on each floor and rest rooms and public areas are cleaned daily, Monday through Friday. A linen pack consisting of two flat sheets, a blanket, a pillow with case and two towels will be provided to each guest. No toiletries are provided. Because the buildings can get hot, we recommended guests bring a small desk-top fan.
Rooms are available in a traditional residence hall for Friday and Saturday nights (Thursday night is NOT available). All fully paid guests should report directly to their assigned building to pick up their conference materials. Housing assignments will be sent in early July to all fully paid guests. Check-in will begin at 11:00 a.m. on your day of arrival and check-out will be by 2:00 p.m. on your day of departure: early check-in and late check-out are not available. All rooms and buildings must be fully vacated by 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, without exception. At this time we are not sure which building will be used, but the residence hall will be located in the Central Residential Area of campus like it has been in the last few years. We anticipate we may use Brett and/or Brooks Hall, but will not know definitively until closer to the event.
Guests who select a double room can enter their requested roommate during the registration process. If you select a double occupancy room and do not provide a roommate you will be assigned to a room with another attendee of your gender. To assist with housing assignments and assignments near the appropriate gendered bathrooms, all guests will provide their gender during registration.
Individuals or groups who wish to share the same North Residence Hall or traditional room should write their suitemate/roommate requests on the registration page (you will see a clearly marked box asking for this information on the online registration page). The UMass Conference Services Registration Office makes every attempt to accommodate all roommate and suitemate requests but there are no guarantees. To increase the likelihood that you will be placed with your requested roommate/suitemate(s), make sure that they also request you! With the different dates of attendance, it also helps if you book the same nights when possible. Housing assignments will be sent in early July to all fully paid registrants.
There is a $80.00 refundable key/access card deposit for both the North Residence and traditional halls, payable only by check to UMass Conference Services. This deposit must be presented to the desk clerk at check-in to be issued your room key and building access card: do not mail it with your registration. The $80.00 deposit check will be returned uncashed when both the key and access card are returned in their original condition at check-out. You will be charged $20.00 for each access that is returned damaged or not returned by 2:00 p.m. on your date of departure, and $60.00 for each room key that is returned damaged or not returned by 2:00 p.m. on your date of departure. Returns after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and/or returns made to any entity/department/individual other than the UMass Summer Conference Housing desk clerk in your building will not be accepted.
We encourage guests to bring anything that will make your stay more comfortable. Although each guest will be provided with a linen pack consisting of two towels, two flat sheets, a pillow with case and a thin blanket, if you prefer to bring your own linens or towels you are more than welcome to do so. Each bedroom, both in North and the traditional hall, has one twin bed, one desk and one dresser per guest. There are no additional amenities or appliances in the bedrooms: cots and cribs are not available, toiletries are not provided, and bedrooms are not equipped with microwaves, refrigerators or televisions.
For guests staying in North
The North Residence Halls are air-conditioned and some guests find them to be a bit cold, so we encourage guests to bring a sweater or sweatshirt. Past guests have also recommended bringing a soft mattress pad. The shared kitchen has a microwave, stove-top oven and full-sized refrigerator/freezer. However, we do not provide dishes, silverware, cutlery, pots, pans or any cookware, so if you plan to cook please bring your own supplies or purchase some upon your arrival. There is a Target, a Walmart and a variety of grocery and convenience stores located within a 10-minute drive from campus. The living area has a couch and chairs, but the room does not have a television or cable access. Both of the bathrooms have a shower, but guests should be sure to bring all of their own toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner, soap and a hair dryer. Only toilet paper is provided in the bathrooms.
For guests staying in a traditional hall
The traditional residence halls are not air-conditioned, so we encourage guests to monitor the weather and bring a desk-top fan if it looks like it will be a warm weekend. Past guests have also recommended bringing a soft mattress pad. Single-gender bathrooms are on each floor and will be shared with other guests (none of the rooms have a private bathroom), so many guests bring robes, shower caddies and sandals for the shower. Guests should also be sure to bring all of their own toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner and a hair dryer. Only toilet paper is provided in the bathrooms.
Need something during your stay?
Once check-in begins there will be a UMass Summer Conference Housing desk clerk located in the lobby of your building around the clock. For any housing related needs that might arise during your stay, stop by and see the desk clerk for assistance.
Please keep in mind both on-campus residence hall lodging options are occupied by students during the school year: these are not hotel accommodations. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the residence halls, please contact the UMass Conference Services Registration Team at 413-577-8102 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
